Esri

Esri is an international supplier of Geographic Information System (GIS) software, web GIS and geodatabase management applications. The company is headquartered in Redlands, California. The company was founded as Environmental Systems Research Institute in 1969 as a land- use consulting firm with Laura Dangermond, Jack Dangermond as co-founders and Jack Dangermond as the CEO. Esri products (particularly ArcGIS Desktop) have 40.7% of the global market share. In 2002, Esri had approximately a 30 percent share of the GIS software market worldwide, more than any other vendor. Other sources estimate that about 70 percent of the current GIS users make use of Esri products.
The company has 10 regional offices in the U.S. and a network of 80 international distributors, with about a million users in 200 countries. The firm has 3,000 employees in the U.S., and is still privately held by the founders. In 2006, revenues were about $660 million. In a 2009 Investor’s Business Daily article, Esri’s annual revenues were indicated to be $1.2 billion, from 300,000 customers ($4000/customer/year). The company hosts an annual International User’s Conference, which was first held on the Redlands campus in
1981 with 16 attendees. More recently, the User’s Conference has been held in San Diego for the past 10 years. An estimated 15,000 users from 131 countries attended in 2012.

Trimble

Trimble Navigation, Ltd., was founded in 1978 by founders like Charles Trimble, et al. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, makes GPS (Global Positioning Systems) receivers, laser rangefinders and inertial navigation systems. The company is best known in the fields of surveying, construction, agriculture, scientific instrumentation, and mobile and fleet management. As of 2012, the company employs more than 6561 employees who are located in more than 30 countries around the world – approximately 54% of its employees are located outside the United States. Steve Berglund has been Trimble’s CEO since 1999. Since 1999, Trimble’s revenues have grown from approximately $270 million to over $2.0 billion in 2012.
Trimble products are used in over 150 countries around the world. Employees in more than 35 countries, coupled with a highly capable network of dealers and distribution partners serve and support our customers. For over 35 years, Trimble has created unique positioning products that help customers grow their business. Our portfolio includes over 1,000 patents and serves as the basis for the broadest positioning offerings in the industry.
Trimble augments its organic product development with strategic acquisitions to bring the latest positioning technologies to a wider market.

Airbus

Astrium was an aerospace subsidiary of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) that provided civil and military space systems and services from 2006 to 2013.
In 2012, Astrium had a turnover of €5.8 billion and 18,000 employees in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain and the Netherlands. Astrium was a member of Institute of Space, its Applications and Technologies. In late 2013 Astrium was merged with Cassidian, the defence division of EADS and Airbus Military to form Airbus Defence & Space. EADS itself reorganized as the Airbus Group, with three divisions that include Airbus, Airbus Defence & Space, and Airbus Helicopters.
Airbus is an aircraft manufacturing division of Airbus Group (formerly EADS). Based in Blagnac,
France, a suburb of Toulouse, with production and manufacturing facilities mainly in France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom, founded in1970 by Bernard Lathiere, Roger Beteille, and Henri Ziegler with Fabrice Bregier as the CEO. The company produced 626 airliners in 2013. Airbus began as a consortium of aerospace manufacturers, Airbus Industrie. Consolidation of European defence and aerospace companies in 1999 and 2000 allowed the establishment of a simplified joint-stock company in 2001, owned by EADS (80%) and BAE Systems (20%).
After a protracted sales process BAE sold its shareholding to EADS on 13 October 2006. Airbus employs around 63,000 people at sixteen sites in four countries: France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. Final assembly production is based at Toulouse, France; Hamburg, Germany;
Seville, Spain; and, since 2009 as a joint -venture, Tianjin, China. Airbus has subsidiaries in the United States, Japan, China and India. The company produces and markets the first commercially viable fly-by-wire airliner, the Airbus A320, and the world’s largest passenger airliner, the A380. 16
